Photonics-based detection is becoming increasingly compact, robust, and affordable. As a result, these technologies are increasingly used in the transport sector. 

Increased stress, environmental pollution, noise, and accident risks are factors that favour the integration of photonic technologies in the transport sector. It is therefore possible to analyse traffic conditions, provide diagnosis of road infrastructure, and develop intelligent driving and intelligent vehicles using photonics.
